Top Ten Books on My Wish List

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, is about the top books that are on my Wish List.

First, I have Katherine Arden’s The Girl in the Tower on my wish list, as well as a few graphic novels and my current obsession, a compilation of early Wonder Woman comics.

In the last month I’ve added about 30 books to my TBR list from the many Top Books of 2017.  Here are a few of the books I’ve seen most often on the best-of lists and that I’m excited to read in 2018.

  1. Exit West by Mohsin Hamid
  2. The Changeling by Victor LaValle
  3. Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
  4. White Tears by Hari Kunzru
  5. What We Lose by Zinzi Clemmons
  6. Saints for All Occasions by J. Courtney Sullivan
  7. Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado
  8. What It Means When a Man Falls From the Sky by Lesley Nnena Arimah
  9. Forest Dark by Nicole Krauss
  10. The Idiot by Elif Batuman

Looking for more best-of books to add to your list?  My go-to lists are the New York Times 100 Notable Books and Books are My Favourite and Best’s list of lists.

By the way, I know I should have Lincoln in the Bardo on this list — but from the sound of it, I’m not sure I’ll like it.  Thoughts?

Merry Christmas and happy last night of Hanukkah!  What’s on your wish list this year?

Thanks for the link *feeling quite chuffed that I’m a ‘go-to’ list!*

I feel a bit the same about Lincoln in the Bardo but the jury is unanimous! (or perhaps the few that didn’t like it are too afraid to speak up when there’s overwhelming praise?!).

I love your list because I like to put data to things… I get a little obsessed and overwhelmed with all the end of year lists, so I find your compilation a helpful way to look at it all.

Glad to hear I’m not alone about Bardo… I’ll give it a try, but not sure it’s my thing.

I have a few of these on my shelf right now that I still need to read … Sing, Unburied, Sing, Exit West, and What It Means When A Man Falls From the Sky. I would love to get a copy of Pachinko – I’ve heard SUCH great things about it and it’s just the kind of story I love. And I saw The Idiot on a Best of 2017 list somewhere and think I might have to add it to my wishlist. Happy Christmas!
