Nonfiction November: Added to my TBR

It’s the end of Nonfiction November, and Week 5, hosted by Jaymi at The OC Bookgirl, is about which books we’ve added to our TBR list.

First, I took a look at my TBR post from last year, where I added Here For It, Get Well Soon, Catch and Kill, and The Body Keeps the Score.  I read all four of those books, and they were excellent. So much thanks to our hosts of Nonfiction November!

This year, I’ve added four more books to my TBR list.

From Entering the Enchanted Castle, I added The Choice: Embrace the Possible, by Edith Eger.  This book is a memoir by a survivor of Auschwitz who becomes a psychotherapist.  Lory describes it as “a beautiful and harrowing memoir of a woman who came through horrors to become a champion of life, relationship, and meaning.”

Also WWII-related, from Silver Button Books I added Women of Valor by Joanne D. Gilbert, a book about Polish resisters to the Third Reich during World War II. I’m partly Polish so I’m particularly drawn to books about Poland during World War II.

In a similar vein, from Introverted Reader, I added Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy by Karen Abbott, a book about women who go undercover during the Civil War.  I’ve read some fantastic books about female spies during World War II, and I’m really interested to learn more about the Civil War.

Finally, from Scones and Chaise Longues, I added Diary of a Young Naturalist, a book by Dara McAnulty, a 15-year old in Ireland who is on the autism/Asperger’s spectrum and finds comfort in nature.  This book won the UK Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing.  I probably find similar comfort in nature, even if I’m not a scientist.  I love books about the outdoors and this one sounds perfect for me.

I hope you’ve all picked up some good additions to your TBR this month, and maybe Nonfiction November has inspired you to read more nonfiction!

I haven’t participated in Non Fiction November, but I did get a lot of good inspiration for reading more non fiction!

Great choices! I picked up a copy of Liar Temptress several years ago and have yet to read it (because I always end up going with fiction rather than non-fiction), but I do think it sounds terrific!

A nice restrained list, and well done for getting all four from last year done!

I’ve added Diary of a Young Naturalist as well. It also sounds like the perfect book for me and everyone seems to be raving about it. Can highly recommend The Choice.
