If you have a book you would like me to review, please contact me. I reserve the right to turn down your request based on lack of time or if it seems like it may not interest me. I will write the review as soon as I am able to and post it here to my blog. I typically post shorter versions of my review on Goodreads and Amazon. I will be fair but honest. There may be times when I can’t finish your book, and if so I will let you know. Life gets in the way sometimes. I will not write a review of a book I don’t finish.
Genres I prefer: Literary fiction, Historical Fiction, Contemporary Fiction, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Mystery
Genres I prefer not to review: Christian fiction, political thrillers, romance, erotica, “chick lit”, poetry, children’s books, and most non-fiction
Acceptable book submission types: I will consider reading self-published books but it needs to be something that looks genuinely interesting to me. I prefer to read electronic versions but will consider reviewing a hard copy.
Review timeframe: Typically a review will take me 4-5 weeks upon receipt of the book, however if you require a more specific deadline, please let me know.
What you can expect: I believe reviews should be fair, honest, and balanced. I’ll describe your book without giving away too much of the plot, and I’ll explain what I liked and disliked. Most of my reviews are a mix of positives and negatives. I also believe that every reader has a unique reaction to every book, so even if I don’t love your book, I’ll assume that others might enjoy it. If I love your book I’d be happy to talk with you about follow-up like an interview or giveaway. I will be clear in my review that I received a request to review.
If you don’t hear from me right away, know that I tend to store up requests so I can consider a group at one time. I try to respond to all requests, it just takes me a while. I welcome requests from publishers, agents, and authors.
